The group was formed in September 2015, since when the members' dancing ability has improved very considerably. We now have a wide variety of sequence dances in our repertoire, and further dances are incorporated on a regular basis.

Sequence Dancing, like ballroom dancing, incorporates various rhythms such as foxtrot, waltz, tango, cha-cha, blues etc.   Ballroom Dancers dance free-style; the more skilled the couple the more complicated the moves they are able to perform. Beginners can quickly learn the basic moves progressing to the more challenging steps with time. But please note that this Group is for people with experience of Sequence Dancing.

Sequence Dancing is a 16 bar sequence of steps which is repeated until the music on the CD track comes to an end. All couples dance identical steps, all moving round the outside of the dance floor in an anti-clockwise direction.

Each dance is named, for example the Catherine Waltz, Jasper Quickstep, Melody Foxtrot etc. There are old favourites which have been popular for many years, as well as new ones which are regularly being invented.

Sequence dances vary widely in complexity, from quite easy to very difficult, so even experienced, skilful dancers frequently face new challenges.

As well as being enjoyable, sequence dancing offers healthy exercise and mental stimulation.  The music which accompanies the dancing is pleasant, the floor at Downs Barn is ideal for dancing and the ambience and company are excellent!

The dance is on every Monday afternoon from 1:45 until 3:45 p.m.
at The Cross & Stable Church & Community Centre, Downs Barn, MK14 7RZ.
The church is situated on the corner of Downs Barn Boulevard and Overstreet (V9)

There is a good bus service and plenty of car parking spaces.
