This Pilates class is floor based and focuses on improving flexibility, balance, strength and muscle tone. The movements are slow, controlled and fluid with an emphasis on mind and body awareness. The objective of Pilates is to teach correct breathing and movement techniques to improve posture as well as spinal and abdominal control. Participants need to be comfortable getting up and down from the floor, as well as lying on the floor. Mats, head blocks, elastic band and dumbbells are used but are not provided.
The group meets at the Village Hall in Shenley Brook End on Wednesday afternoon 3.00pm - 4.00pm, and are taught by an experienced professional tutor, Ayse Sozen. Lessons are organized in monthly blocks at a current fee of £25, which is payable in advance, in cash, at the beginning of each month.
If you are interested in joining this group, please contact a group coordinator for further information. Trial lessons (at a cost of £7) are available. This happens frequently as members who can't take up their place due to other commitments such as grandparent duties or holidays inform the coordinator and these places are re-allocated to members on the waiting list. There are vacancies on the waiting list at present.
