Welcome to the MKu3a Free Wheelers cycle group web page.
We are a friendly group who enjoy getting out in the fresh air and countryside for a little exercise.

The routes
We tour mostly on quiet roads through villages around Milton Keynes and enjoy rides to such places as Harrold Country Park, Stowe, The Forest Centre at Marston Moretaine, Salcey Forest and Buckingham. Our rides can be between 20 and 30 miles with a good refreshment break at a cafe / tea shop in the middle.

The speed
We average about 8 miles an hour when there are hills involved and cycle at about 11 or 12 miles an hour on the flat.
Basically, we pedal towards a café and enjoy coffee, cake … and good chat before returning home!

Leaders
Our rides are led by different members of the group on a voluntary basis. The leaders choose the route to ensure some variety.

We can be quite a large group and  manage this by following these guidelines:
At the outset
If the group is over 10 in number then we split into two groups, making sure there is a leader for each group
Outward bound
The leader will let everyone know where the next rest/catch-up point will be. Should a cyclist, who arrives promptly at the catch up point, need to go ahead they should  do so, making sure the leader knows this and knows where they are planning to rejoin the group.
Returning
Cyclists should let the leader of their group know if they plan to leave the group before the return to the start. The leader should ensure that all group members are happy and can get back to the starting point with other cyclists.

When

On the first and third Tuesday of the month with a starting time of 9.30.

Safety
Your attendance will indicate your acceptance of any risks associated with cycling. All bikes must be roadworthy and there is an expectation that all cyclists will be wearing helmets.
