Welcome to the MKU3A Choir web page, and this is to let you know that new members, particularly tenors and basses, would be welcome to join us, as we do have a few vacancies.  Please contact Vivienne Shaw via this website.

We are a friendly and welcoming group and are particularly fortunate to have an excellent Musical Director and also an excellent Accompanist.  We work fairly hard as we take part in concerts, as well as putting on our own concerts twice a year.  Being able to read music is not essential; there are many of us who do not, and who have just picked it up as we have gone along.

Joining
We meet on Tuesday afternoons nearly every week of the year at The Cross & Stable in Downs Barn.  If you are coming by car there is a free car park, and for those travelling by bus, the No 1 and No 2 from the city centre stop nearby.

You will not need to ‘join’ immediately.  You can come along and try us out by having two sessions free.  After that you will need to show that you are a fully paid up MKU3A member before you can join the Choir.  If you join us at your third session, you will be asked to begin paying £5.00 monthly.  This pays for the hire of the hall, purchase of sheet music, refreshments and contribution to MKU3A, and is payable either by card reader or bank transfer.

Concerts
We put on two concerts each year and you will, of course, need to attend rehearsals beforehand.  We are at present rehearsing for our Summer Concert, also incorporating a Cream Tea.  This will be held on Saturday 22 June at 2.30pm at Newport Pagnell Baptist Church, Lovat Hall.  Please note the new venue.  Tickets at £10 each will be on sale from this coming week, so please come along and tell your friends as well.

We like to look as professional as possible for Concerts.  Ladies wear long black skirts or trousers, a white long sleeved top or shirt, with a red corsage, which we give out at each concert, and black footwear.  Men wear black trousers, long sleeved white shirts and a red bow tie, and black shoes.

Running the Choir
This is run by our Musical Director, who selects and organises all our music and singing, our Accompanist, a Committee and the  Group Co-ordinator.  Generally it is the Committee and Co-ordinator who deal with concerts, music, members, etc.  We could not run the Choir without a Committee because of its size.

The majority of communication with members is by e-mail, but there is always a hard copy version available at Choir meetings for those who need it.

If you would like to join us, please do not hesitate to contact our Group Co-ordinator.
