The 27th of November is American Thanksgiving so Lynette Hill joins us  once more to tell ‘The Absolutely True Story of That Event We Call the First Thanksgiving':

In 1621, English Pilgrims, including Jonathon Rogers of Northamptonshire, and members of the Wampanoag nation sat down together to share an autumn harvest feast in what is now known as Plymouth, Massachusetts. This is acknowledged as one of the first Thanksgiving celebrations in North America.

But what really happened on that day? How did this moment come about? Is it really possible that a man of the Patuxet people named Squanto could step out of the wilderness to greet the colonists in perfect English?

Oddly enough, the answer is a well-documented yes. And as to how that happened, well, you'll want to come along and hear the whole story.

Our venue is Oak Tree Centre, Wallinger Drive, Shenley Brook End, MK5 7GZ.  Doors open at 2:00pm for a 2.30pm start. Coffee, tea and biscuits are available after the talk.
