Meetings: The group meets on Wednesday mornings 11.15am-12.15pm
In the first instance please contact the Group Leader for class information and payment details.
This Pilates group operates on the same basis as Pilates group 1, meeting weekly and employing the same professional tutor.
The maximum group size is 16 people. Ideally new members will join the group at the beginning of each new term.
There is a restriction on available spaces and therefore membership to the group will be on a first come first served basis;
ie. the first 16 payments received prior to the start of a new term will form the group for that term. Preference will be given to existing members who join on time.
This Pilates class is suitable for those who wish to improve their technique.
What is Pilates?
Pilates systematically exercises all the major muscle groups within the body. This approach helps to address
muscular imbalances through a range of exercises. There are many benefits to this method of exercise which
many students begin to feel from the very first class they attend. Notably: feeling calmer, joints more mobile,
breathing more easily, progressive muscular tone and strength. These exercises also stimulate the nervous system
which in turn leads to better balance and co-ordination. Ultimately posture improves restoring physical and mental
harmony.
It is this holistic, slow and controlled approach that sets Pilates apart from many other forms of exercise. Osteopaths,
physiotherapists and general practitioners recommend Pilates as one of the most effective forms of exercise. Pilates
can be beneficial for the majority of people. The exercises are predominately mat based which mean that you will need
to be able to get up and down off the floor and be comfortable lying on the mat for most of the hourly session.
What you need to bring
You will need to bring your own Pilates/Yoga exercise mat, a small towel or cushion to rest your head on and a
small bottle of water.
Please Note
Before joining, new members are asked to complete a short form regarding any health issues and if appropriate discuss these with the tutor to ensure that Pilates is an appropriate form of exercise for them.
